• Camden - Grungy but fun. Camden markets has a number of vintage stores to rummage though.
• Islington  - Step back in time at the charming Camden Passage for authentic vintage.
• Notting Hill/Ladbrooke Grove - Well healed bohemians flock to this area along with all of London on Saturday market day. Notting Hill is the place to go for antiques and Ladbrooke Grove is full of vintage market stalls.
• Shoreditch - Fashion forward trendsetters know where to go, Brick Lane. Do the same.
• Soho - Super central and still cool. Soho still has good vintage bargains to be found.
• Stoke Newington - Full of organic cafes and charming pubs. This is a relaxing area to vintage shop for bargains.
• Waterloo - Pop over to the market street of Lower Mash for retro 50's and 60's clothes.

Stoke Newington Church Street

This is one of our favourite streets in London. We love spending a relaxing afternoon vintage shopping on Church Street. It's like a village but only down the road from the hustle and bustle of Dalston.

Now, there are a lot of latte sipping yoga mums in organic cafes here but you can still find some very hip and fashionable vintage shops. The range is smaller than in Shoreditch but the prices are lower and there is still a great selection of on trend pieces to choose from.

Here's a few of the best addresses. Firstly, we love Strut. It's a vintage store but also designer dress concession store so you can find amazing bargains here and unique pieces. It's a bit of a fashionista secret, so don't tell!

We also love Dirty Blonde. They have a hip range of on trend pieces. No rummaging around here is required as they have done the hard work for you.

Casino, another one of our favourites, is a gorgeous little shop that has a wide range of restyled vintage dresses and men's wear with a 50's feel.

Camden Markets

The Camden Markets are a number of separate markets that make up the area around the Camden Lock. This part of London is a melting pot of counter culture, hippy backpackers, rock pubs and dodgy geezers. It's always crowded, a bit grungy, in your face and never boring. If you feel like jumping in and mingling with the masses this is the place to go.

Head to the Stables or to the Camden Lock Market by the bridge where you can find a number vintage stores selling clothes and collectables. We like St Cyr Vintage. Their selection 40's - 60's wear is reasonably priced and we love that they sort their collection by size. They also stock vintage magazines and books. Upstairs in the West Yard is our other favourite, Berty and Gerty. They have a good selection of well priced vintage and retro dresses and denim.

Camden Passage

A visit to Camden Passage is like stepping back in time. Just up from the hustle and bustle of Angel station and nestled next to Upper St. is a truly unique shopping area. Here you will find vintage stores, antique and clothing stalls, perfumeries, cafes and more.

This is a must visit area for lovers of quality vintage shopping. Market days are Wednesday and Saturday but you can visit anytime and most shops should be open. We particularly like Dreamtime for hats and accesories and Annie's for gorgeous vintage clothes and textiles. You will also find excellent options at the northern end. We like Decadent Vintage for fashion forward vintage and Fat Faced Cat for quirky vintage and accessories.

Pelicans & Parrots

It was about time someone opened a boutique like this in Dalston. Pelicans and Parrots is a stylish vintage destination for clothes and curiosities. Their collection mixes tailored pieces with on trend fashions. Curiosities from the 17th century onwards are scattered throughout the store, making this a fascinating vintage address to visit.

Rellik

Tucked away under Trellick Tower at the end of the Golbourne Road Market is Rellik, one of London's best vintage boutiques. Run by a friendly team, Rellik stocks high end designer vintage, together with on trend pieces. The collection is well curated, inspiring and beautifully cared for.

This address is not to be missed if you are serious about your vintage collection.

What The Butler Wore

Over on Lower Marsh it's all gone a bit Carry On ! What The Butler Wore stocks 60's and 70's fashions at low prices. If you like Mod fashions make sure you pay this boutique a visit. Lower Marsh is a charming destination for vintage shoppers with cool cafes and vintage boutiques. So pop on your shift dress and grab an espresso at the Vespa Cafe next door then scoot on down to Brighton to Mod-on. Oh yeah!

Blondies

Head to Blondies for shoes, shoes, shoes. As you can see they have a huge selection together with well maintained quality bags, scarves and accessories. Blondies also stock a great range of dresses, mainly fashion forward pieces from the 70's and 80's, at reasonable prices.

Paper Dress Vintage

This charming vintage boutique and cafe can be found in the heart of trendy Shoreditch. Paper Dress Vintage has a wide selection of dresses and accessories complimented by very friendly and helpful service. However, we think the big draw card here are the prices, which are very reasonable and the large range of vintage dresses from the 50's to the 70's.

Paper Dress is more than a vintage boutique. It is also a venue for happenings in the evening. Keep an eye on their website for vintage inspired events and craft classes.

Absolute Vintage Boutique

Abosolute Vintage is a must visit stop on your vintage tour of Shoreditch. Around the corner from their sister store Blondies, Absolute Vintage has a wide range of dresses, shoes and bags from the 50's - 80's at very reasonable prices. We always find something here and we think you will too.

Decadent Vintage

Up the top end of Camden Passage is Decadent Vintage, a must visit address for cool and modern vintage. It's easy to find high quality trend aware pieces here. We fell in love with a number dresses here, it was hard to pick just one. Prices are a little high but the collection is well curated and well worth a visit.

Portobello Road Market

Ok -  it's super famous, full of tourists and hectic, but Portobello Road Market still remains one of London's best markets for vintage and antique lovers. So, make sure you don't miss out.

If you love antiques then the Notting Hill end of the road should be where you focus your energy. For vintage clothes and good second hand, it's better to start at the Ladroke Grove end at the Portobello Green Market.

Don't forget to head past Westway and make your way along to Golbourne Road. Here you will find the hipper end of Portobello Road, fewer tourists and some real bargains.

If you decide to start at the Notting Hill Gate end you will find some good vintage and second hand shops on Pembridge Road such as Dolly Diamond and Retro Clothing.

Dolly Diamond stocks vintage from the 20's to the 70's. They specialise in evening wear and have a large selection of lovely things. Think ball gowns, furs and accessories as well as vest, tops and simpler pieces.

Local tip: Avoid Notting Hill on Saturdays if you can. It's the main day for the market and the area is crawling with tourists. So, if you don't like crowds, pick another day where you can shop in a more relaxed style.
